No congregation prayers in J&K on Eid, Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida: MMU

Srinagar, May 18: Jammu and Kashmir Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) on Monday said that there will be no congregational prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Shab-e-Qadr and Jummat-ul-Vida (last Friday prayers of holy month of Ramdhan) due to threat of coronavirus pandemic.

In a joint statement, MMU, an organisation of different religious groups, headed by Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq felicitated the Muslim world in general and the Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir in particular on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The members expressed hope that in the blessed and holy month of Ramadhan, Almighty Allah will grant refuge to humanity from the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and that the life will return to normal at the earliest.

.MMU  reiterated its appeal to the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir that in view of the rising graph of Covid-19 cases in Kashmir precautionary measures need to be adhered to , as a consequence religious gatherings on the auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr, will remain suspended .

Ulemas appealed to people to continue to carry on with prayers, tauba istighfaar, dhikr-o-adhkaar, and other faith related activities at homes. It lauded the people for showing great wisdom in following precautionary measures .

MMU  also appealed to people to extend all possible help and assistance to each other , especially to the needy , destitute and daily earners in these extremely hard times and also assist religious and welfare organisations in reaching out to the needy.

The Sadqa-e-Fitr amount has been fixed at minimum Rs 55 per person which must reach the needy by Eid  so that they are also able to celebrate the Occasion.

Majlis-e-Ulema added that those who were not able to fast during Ramadhan due to health concerns must offer Fidya of Rs 50 per day Per person in the way of Allah.

Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema  Jammu Kashmir comprises of  religious bodies which include Mufti Azam Nasir-ul-Islam,Darul Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora, Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid, Muslim Waqf Board , Jamiat Ahle Hadeeth, Anjuman Shariah Shian, Karwaan-e-Islami, Itihadul Muslimeen , Tableegul Islam and other religious organisations.
