DSP sustains head injuries in Budgam Clashes

Srinagar, May 8: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and his Personal Security Officer (PSO) were among several persons injured on Friday amid clashes in Nasrullahpora locality in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Senior Superintedent of Police (SSP) Budgam Amod Nagpure said some miscreants were forcing shops dealing with essential communities to shut and a police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Fayaz Hussain visited the locality to disperse them.

He said DSP Hussain sustained head injury while his PSO also suffered injury and were removed to hospital.

The SSP said that action will be taken against the “miscreants”. Asked if people were offering prayers in absentia for the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Commander Killed in Budgam, he responded in negative.

Meanwhile, Police used batons and tear smoke shells to chase away the protesters in which several persons suffered minor injuries and were treated locally, official sources added
