Baramulla: Indian and Pakistani troopers on Monday morning exchanged cross border shelling along the Line of Control in Uri sector of Kashmir division, officials said.

Officials said that Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in north Kashmir’s Uri sector in Baramulla district.

“Pakistani troops used heavy mortar shelling and target check posts in Hajipeer sector in Baramulla district in the wee hours of this morning,” they said. “Indian troops guarding the posts have retaliated beffitingly,” they said.

However, panic gripped among the surrounding villagers. A police officer said that firing is on from both sides in Hajipeer sector of Uri—(KNO)
