Srinagar: A live mortar shell was found in Mendhar river in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.

Reports said that some villagers noticed the suspicious objects on the banks of Mendhar nallah and informed the police about it.

“Following which a joint team of police, army and bomb disposal squad reached to the spot and found the live mortar shell,” a police official said.

“The shell was later diffused without causing any damage,” the police official said, adding “further investigation is on.” (GNS)
