Govt forces lay siege to militant commander Riyaz Naikoo’s village

Pulwama: Government forces Thursday morning launched a cordon and search operation in  Beighpora village of Awantipora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The village is the hometown of militant commander Riyaz Naikoo. Naikoo is the chief operational commander of Hizb ul Mujahideen.

Reports said that acting on inputs about the presence of militants in the village, a joint team of government forces including Army’s 55 RR, paramilitary CRPF and J&K Police’s SOG launched a search operation in the area.

They said that all the entry and exit points have been sealed and a door to door search operation is on in the area.
