Three minors among 9 from Rajasthan killed in Leh mishap

Srinagar: Nine members of two families including three minors were killed and another was injured after a truck in which they were travelling in turned turtle in Leh area of Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

A police officer said that a cement-laden truck (bearing registration number JK-13B 0171) coming from Srinagar to Leh skidded off the road and rolled down near Moon Land Lamayuru.

In the mishap, nine persons belonging to two families of Bilwara Ajmer Rajasthan were seriously injured and were taken to Sub-District hospital Khaltsi where the doctors declared them as brought dead,” he said, adding that another family member injured in the mishap was under treatment.

He identified the deceased as Premi and her two sons Nanda, Puran, Nandu,Vinod, Papu and three other are minors.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations taken up,” he said. (GNS)
