Srinagar: Indicating a sharp spike in violence in Kashmir, around 101 militants were killed in Kashmir in last 150 days.

The dead militants mostly comprise of the local Kashmiris whose number touched the 76 mark.

“With killing of 05 terrorist & 101 for last five months, an average of 20 each month so far,” the police stated.

“This includes 25 foreign terrorists & 76 local, belonging to Jaish e Mohammad,LeT HM  & AGH”.

In Shopian operation today third person has been identified as local terrorist.

In last two weeks, there has been sharp increase in the number of militant killed during the encounters which have almost become a daily routine.

On Friday, police said five militants were in separate encounters in Shopian and Tral belts of South Kashmir.

On Thursday two militants were killed in North Kashmir’s Sopore area while as two more militants were killed in Kokernag area on Tuesday.

The bloodies week was from May 16 to May 18 when thirteen people including 10 militants  two soldiers and one civilian were killed.

Between May 05 to May 22, 14 militants were killed alone during the holy month of Ramzaan.

Earlier the government has said that they have killed altogether 140 militants in Kashmir between June and December 2018, in the state.
