Jharkhand: Eleven Jawans injured in IED blast

Ranchi, May 28 (UNI) Eleven security personnel were injured in an Improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Saraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand on Tuesday morning.

Sources said the blast was triggered at around 0500 hrs by Naxal Maharaj Pramanik, who is these days active in the area.

The injured Jawans, which include eight men of the 209 Cobra battalion and three personnel of Jharkhand police, were airlifted to Ranchi in a chopper for better medical treatment.

The encounter between the Maoists and security forces was still going on till the reports last came in.

The Maoists had carried out a similar attack on security forces in same area on May 25 — just two days after the result of general election.
