Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday ordered the closure of educational institutes in Sopore in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials said that the decision has been made as a precautionary measure following the killing of a local militant in a brief shootout with government forces in Shopian on Friday.

They said that the classwork in Govt Degree College, Sopore; Govt Higher Secondary School Boys; Govt Higher Secondary School Girls shall remain suspended today on May 11.

However, the officials said, the classwork in rest of the educational institutions shall be held as per routine.
