Srinagar: Former army chief, General VP Malik has said that the banning of highway for the civilian movement shows that forces are becoming more defensive.

In a tweet he wrote:

“Kashmir. Ban on move of civ (civilian) vehs (vehciles) on NH () twice a week is a dumb idea 1. Goes against core object of winning hearts & minds. 2. Civil Adm must weigh pros & cons 3. Instead of strengthening local police & int, & improving move security, shows forces becoming over defensive”.

The government has announced a bi weekly ban on Wednesday and Sunday on national highway to pave the movement of military convoys.
