Ban on JKLF: JRL calls for shutdown on Sunday

Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a complete shutdown on Sunday against the banning of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front under Unlawful Activities Act.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front is led by Yasin Malik who is detained under Public Safety Act at Kot Balwal jail in Jammu. Malik is also part of the Joint Resistance Leadership besides, Hurriyat Conference (G)chairperson Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The government of India Friday declared the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), led by Muhammad Yasin Malik, an “unlawful association” under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

JRL in a statement appealed people to observe a complete shutdown on Sunday to protest against the ban.
