Protests, shutdown in Anantnag against mob attacks on Kashmiris in Jammu

Srinagar: Protests erupted in Lal chowk area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag Saturday to protest the attacks on Kashmiris in by rightwing mobsters and arsonists in Jammu. 

Eyewitnesses said that several people assembled in Lalchowk Anantnag and raised slogans against rightwing extremism in Jammu. 

They said that the youths clashes with local police who were trying to disperse them.

The rightwing mobsters and arsonists have torched more than 2 dozen vehicles of Muslims in Jammu and attacked residential quarters of Kashmiris.

On the second day today, the hindu extremists attacked residential quarters of Kashmiris at Janipur Saturday morning despite strict curfew in place.

“Army has been deployed in some areas to control the situation,” locals said. 

Amid rising tensions in Jammu’s Gujjar nagar Army on Friday carried out flag march to calm down the area.
