Shutdown in Shopian, Pulwama districts of south Kashmir to protest militant killings

Srinagar: Southern Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts are observing a complete shutdown on Wednesday to protest and mourn the killings of six militants in two separate encounters in Shopian and Budgam districts.

Reports said that all the shops and business establishments are shut in the twin districts and traffic is mostly  off the roads.

On January, 22, three militants were killed during an encounter with government forces in Shirmal village of Shopian. The slain were identified as Shamsul-Haq, a resident Draggad, Amir Suhail Bhat, a resident of Shopian, Shoiab, a resident of Shirmal Shopian.

In another gunfight on January 21, three militants were killed during a gunfight with government forces in Hapatnar village of of Budgam district. The slain were identified as identified as Syed Rubaan, a resident of Shopian, Sabzar Ahmed, a resident of Lassiora Pulwama, Towseef Ahmed Itoo, of Nowpora Payeen Pulwama.
