Encounter breaks out in Tral village in south Kashmir, clashes erupt

Srinagar: An intense gunfight broke out between militants and government forces Saturday morning in Aripal village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The gunfight ensued after militants fired upon government forces who had laid a siege to the village. “Two militants are believed to be trapped,” reports said.

Authorities have already snapped the mobile Internet service in entire Pulwama district.

Reports said that intense clashes erupted near the encounter site and other neighbouring villages of Aripal following the gunfight.

“Youths took to streets and pelted government forces with stones. The forces responded by firing tear gas shells,” they said.
