Srinagar: The residents of Shankergund area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against Power Development Department and Public Health Engineering department against erratic electricity supply to area and water crisis.

Witnesses said that scores of residents hit streets to protest and blamed the administration for failing to address their grievances.

The protesters shouted slogans against government for failing to provide basic facilities to the inhabitants.

“We are struggling with continuous power and water supply issues in this chilling winter,” they said and added that despite repeated meetings with the concerned officials, the issues were not addressed.

Meanwhile, a team of police reached the spot and assured the protestors that their matters will be taken to higher authorities of PDD and PHE.
