Cold wave grips Kashmir valley, Srinagar freezes at minus 4.8

Srinagar: Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar on Monday recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 4.8 Degrees Celsius as the night temperatures dipped further at most places across Jammu and Kashmir.

MeT officials said that Leh recorded the night’s lowest temperature at minus 16.1 degrees Celsius while neighbouring Kargil recorded a minimum temperature of minus 11.4.

Drass town was the coldest in the Jammu and Kashmir at minus  20.8.

In Qazigund mercury settled at a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 5.8 degrees Celsius last night.

The tourist resort Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 8.3 and minus 8.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Jammu recorded a low of 4.4 degrees Celsius while Batote recorded 1.5, Banihal recorded 3.5, and Bhaderwah recorded minus 1.5 degree Celsius.
