Normal life remains crippled for fifth day in north Kashmir’s Hajin town

Srinagar: Normal life remained crippled for the fifth successive day on Thursday in Hajin town and adjoining areas in north Kashmir district of Bandipora against the killing of two local militants in an encounter with army and police at Mujgund on Srinagar outskirts.

One of the two slain militants has worked as an artist in Bollywood movie ‘Haider’, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Even though there was no strike call given by any pro-freedom group, shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in Hajin town and adjoining areas.

However, some private vehicles were plying on few interior routes.

Two local militants, including a 14-year-old Mudasir Parray and 17-year-old Saqib Bilal, were killed in an 18-hour-long encounter with security forces at Mujgund on Srinagar outskirts on Sunday. While a Pakistani militant Ali Bhai  was also killed in the gunfight.

Quoting relatives of Saqib, local media said that the slain militant had an interest in acting and had done a small role in Bollywood movie ‘Haider’.

The report further said that Saqib had also appeared in stage show ‘Weath chi Yeahi’ (This is the river) at Tagore Hall in Srinagar and won an award for his performance.
