SC asks govt to submit details of Rafale jet pricing within 10 days

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Government to submit within 10 days the details into the Rafale deal, asking it to submit the jet pricing and cost in a sealed cover.

A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, said, ‘We would like the details of pricing and cost to be submitted to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover. This may be submitted in the next 10 days.”

The court’s observations came while hearing the joint plaint filed by former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie along with activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan, into the deal.

The petitioners, questioning the deal between India and France and the choice of business magnate Anil Ambani’s inexperienced Reliance Defence as Indian partner for Rafale-maker Dassault, are seeking a court-monitored probe into the matter.

The Court fixed the matter for further hearing on November 14. (agencies)
