Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairperson Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai have been detained at their respective residences at Nigeen and Baghat ahead of the JRL protest sit-in at Lalchowk.

While the octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under house detention, JKLF chief surprisingly managed to reach the city centre in Lalchowk.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a march to Lal Chowk today to protest the killing spree and Kulgam “carnage”.

Authorities have sealed commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar city to prevent the march.

Meanwhile, government suspended the high-speed Internet service in Srinagar in view of the Joint Resistance Leadership sit-in at Srinagar.

“The speed of mobile Internet service has been reduced to 2G in the capital city as a precautionary measure,” sources said.
