Srinagar: Army on Friday said that it killed 3 militants in Rampur sector of Uri in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A gunfight between the army and a group of militants erupted in the area on Thursday after army said that it foiled an infiltration bid.

“Three militants have been killed in the encounter.”

Official sources said that the army unit posted along Torna post at Line of Control (LoC) in Boniyar sector of Uri detected movement of a group of militants. When the army challenged the group, a gunfight ensued which continued for hours.

Meanwhile, Srinagar based army spokesperson told The Kashmir Press that the operation was still in progress.
