Children of casual labourers join parents’ protest demanding release of salaries

Srinagar: In a first the children of PHE daily wagers, ITI workers, casual labourers and land donors joined their parents on Tuesday and assembled at Pratap Park in Srinagar to protest against the government for failing to release their wages from past 21 months.

“For almost two years we have not been paid. How are we going to feed our families,” a protesting employee said.

He said that government seems to have forgotten that ‘humans work in these departments’.

“Government should be ashamed that our children are demanding what is due to their parents,” a PHE daily wager said adding that they have gone bankrupt now and people have stopped letting them borrow household items.
