Train service remains suspended in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 16 (UNI) Train service remained suspended for the second day on Sunday in the Kashmir valley, for security reasons.

Train service was suspended in north Kashmir as there was some protests while in south Kashmir, the service was suspended as a precautionary measure following the killing of three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants on Saturday.

He said no train will chug on Badgam-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region for the second day today. Similarly, no train will on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir.

Train service was resumed on Friday after remaining suspended for a day in north Kashmir, where two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were killed in an encounter by forces in apple township of Sopore.

Train service will be resumed only after receiving a fresh advisory from the authorities, he said, adding, ‘We are acting on the advice of police.’
