Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam has refuted the news reports about the deferment of panchayat and municipal polls in the state.

Addressing a function in SKICC here, the chief secretary said the polls will be held as per schedule. “There will be no change in the date of [municipal and panchayat] polls.”

“We have decided the elections are going to be held as per schedule. There will be no change in dates, there will no change in schedule. Three weeks from now we will have urban body elections. First week of November we will have panchayat elections,” said Subrahmanyam.
