Shutdown, clashes in Handwara over militant killings; Schools, Colleges, internet services shut

Srinagar: Complete shutdown is being observed in Handwara district of northern Kashmir on Tuesday against the killing of two militants in an early morning gunfight with government forces.

Earlier, local sources said that youths clashed with government forces government in the district after hundreds of people staged a protest against the killing of two local militants.

The protesters hurled stones on the government forces who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells.

The Handwara district administration has ordered closure of schools and colleges in the district.

Authorities have also ordered suspension of Internet services in  the district.

Two militants were killed in a gun-battle in Galoora village in the pre-dawn gunfight.
