Srinagar: An Army personnel on Saturday shot himself dead with his service rifle inside a camp in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Identified as Naik Jasvir Singh, 34, the slain was posted with the Punjab regiment, while on sentry duty at Maheshwar camp on Friday, a police official said.

The colleagues of Singh rushed to the spot and evacuated him to a nearby medical facility where he was declared brought dead.
