Srinagar: Hitting out at separatists over alleged selective outrage, National Conference Vice-President Omar Abdullah on Friday said he doesn’t condone any families being harassed, but how about a word of condemnation for the harassment and worse still the kidnapping of families of Jammu and Kashmir personnel.
“I don’t condone any families being harassed but how about a word of condemnation for the harassment and worse still the kidnapping of families of @JmuKmrPolice personnel,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging
Mr Abdullah was reacting to Joint Resistance Leadership, comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Miwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, strongly condemned the alleged ploys being employed by the authorities to punish intimidate harass and humiliate the families of militants. The separatists had said that these measures will only worsen the situation and turn it ugly and out of control.
“Eleven abductions! This is a very worrying reflection of the situation in the valley. What’s worse is the selective outrage – people/leaders who are so vocal about alleged security force excesses are silent about these abductions,” Mr Abdullah tweeted.
Family members of 10 policemen, including some officers, have been kidnapped after militants raided the residences of various cops in south Kashmir last night.
The kidnapping spree by militants come just a day after police arrested several dozen people, including father of two militants’ heads Riyaz Naiko and Lateef tiger, from south Kashmir.
