Farooq Abdullah booed at Hazratbal, Masjid committee intervenes to let him pray

Srinagar: Former chief minister  Farooq Abdullah was booed amid pro freedom sloganeering at Hazratbal, where he had come to offer Eid prayers on Wednesday.

People present at the congregation started booing at Abdullah as he walked in.

The imam was speaking about the impending danger to special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports people even demanded his removal from the premises.

Hazratbal is a traditional bastion of National Conference.

“The Masjid Committee intervened and only then Abdullah was able to offer his Eid praers,” they said.

Abdullah quickly left the place as prayers culminated

“Some protestors took their shoes in their hands while shouting ‘Shame Shame’,” reports said.
