Several injured in clashes after Eid prayers in Kashmir

Srinagar:: Several persons were injured when the government forces resorted to baton charge and burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators at several places in the Kashmir valley.

The trouble started immediately after Eid-ul-Azha prayers were over at Eidgah in the down town city on Wednesday. However, normalcy restored in the area after about half an hour.

Reports of clashes were also reported at Ashijipora and Janglat Mandi in Anantnag district after prayers.
Several protesters besides security personnel were injured in the clashes. A protester received pellet injury in his eye.

Clashes were also reported from apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district where youth tried to hold a demonstration at the main chowk.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that Eid prayers concluded peacefully across Kashmir valley in which thousands of devotees attended the prayers in different parts of valley.

He said isolated incidents of stone pelting by miscreants were reported from Eid Gah Srinagar, Janglat Mandi

Anantnag and Sopore after the conclusion of Eid prayers.

However, Police exhibited utmost restraint in containing stone pelting. (UNI)
