Three militants killed in Tanghdar Sector

 

Srinagar: Three militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter near Line Of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday evening.

A police officer said that soldiers of 6 Garwhal manning the fence at Baltherian Post challenged the movement of a group of infiltrators today evening.

“After being challenged the infiltrators opened fire resulted into an encounter”.

Army’s Srinagar based defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said that an infiltration bid was foiled by the alert troops near the LoC in Tanghdar.

In the operation, three militants have been killed so far, Kalia said.

Meanwhile, aarmies of India and Pakistan on Friday late evening exchanged cross-border shelling in Tanghdar sector.

An official told GNS that Pakistani troops at around 7:20 pm attacked Indian army’s Black Rock Post, Sharart Post and Anil Post of 20 JAT Regiment with mortar shells.

He said that the army soldiers manning the fence also responded effectively.

The cross-border shelling continued intermittently for several hours, he said.

On August 13, an army soldier was killed in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers at Tanghdar sector along the Line of Control. (GNS)
