Srinagar: Governor Jammu and Kashmir N.N Vohra on Tuesday have expressed serious concern over the very slow progress of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Flyover and Grade Separator at Radio Kashmir Junction.

He remarked his views during high level meeting at the Civil Secretariat here in Srinagar.

He directed Satish Razdan, CEO, ERA, to immediately resolve every pending issue relating to the projects and ensure most expeditious execution to ensure that both these works are completed without any further delay.

He directed CEO to regularly monitor progress and forward fortnightly status reports to the Raj Bhavan.

Earlier the work on the flyover was stopped twice by the simplex infrastructure company, which is constructing the Jehangir chowk Rambagh fly over.

Pertinently on May 11, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti inaugurated the first phase of the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh expressway corridor from the Amar Singh College area to the Barzulla Bridge.

The said project is estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 350 crore by the ERA.

The first phase of the flyover project was thrown open after it was started in July 2009 and was scheduled to be completed in three years. The work on the project was later started in September 2013.

However, its first phase alone took five years to get completed.

Meanwhile governor also reviewed the status of infrastructure works under Planning and was informed by Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary Planning and Monitoring Department that development works valuing Rs. 3000 crore could be projected to the Government of India for securing the third Tranche of ADB loan.

He directed Kansal to ensure that a basket of prioritized projects of roads, bridges, water-supply, and sanitation and of other relevant concerns valuing Rs. 4000 crore were prepared and projected to Government of India without delay.
