Srinagar: Mobile Internet service was suspended in twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam following the killing of three militants in a gunfight with the government forces in Khudwani area.

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said that three bodies of the militants were recovered from the gunfight site. An army spokesman in Srinagar also confirmed the killing of three militants.

In a tweet, Vaid said the militants were responsible for the killing of a police constable Mohd Saleem of Kulgam whose body was recovered yesterday from Kulgam.

Saleem was abducted by the militants from his home in Mutalhama village of Kulgam district on Friday night.

An official said that the Internet was suspended “as a precautionary measure”. UNI
