Jammu: A man was arrested with the fake Indian currency worth Rs 41,900 in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“A man identified as Altaf Hussain, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Muradpur, Rajouri was arrested along with the fake currency in Kandi area of Rajouri district,” Yugal Manhas, SSP Rajouri said.

A team from police station Kandi assisted by Special Operation Group laid a Naka at Jaglanoo in Kandi and was on routine frisking of vehicles when a pedestrian was seen coming from some distance, said Manhas.

He said that the suspicious person after noticing the police Naka, started to move back, cops chased and nabbed him at some distance.

“During frisking, some cash and other personal belongings were recovered from his possession,” he added and said that during initial investigation, it was found that a bundle of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 200 denomination recovered from him were fake and he also confessed same during the questioning.

A case under section 489 (B) of RPC has been registered and further questioning is going on, to nab other people involved in fake currency marketing in Rajouri. (UNI)
