Srinagar: Government forces have concluded a week-long long search operation in the woods of frontier district of Kupwara after no fresh contact was established with the militants, official sources said on Thursday.
The operation was launched in Kupwara woods on July 11 when a soldier Mukul Meena was killed and another injured in the encounter on July 11. A militant was also gunned down by troops next day on July 12.
Later, on Monday, a militant was killed and two soldiers were injured in the encounter which ensued after a security force patrol party came under attack by militants.
Despite unfavourable weather conditions, forces continued massive search operation in the dense woods. Since no fresh contact was established with the militants, the operation was called off.
