Amarnath yatra remains suspended for third consecutive day

Jammu: In view of heavy rush of pilgrims at Pahalgam and Baltal, the Amarnath Yatra remained suspended for third consecutive day from here on Friday.

“No fresh batch of Amarnath pilgrims was left from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas to twin base camps at Pahalgam and Baltal this morning,” an official here said.

He said that there is already heavy rush of pilgrims at the base camps due to suspension of yatra from both the routes for two days adding, “the Pahalgam bound yatries were also halted on Wednesday at Udhampur and they will be cleared only after rush clears.”

On Tuesday evening five pilgrims were reportedly killed due to landslide and flash floods at Baltal.

“Fresh batch from here will be allowed only after authorities permit,” he added.
