DGP says Islamic State (IS) almost ‘eliminated’ from Kashmir

DGP SP Vaid says IS eliminated from Kashmir

 

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid on Friday said that government forces “have almost eliminated the cadres of IS in Jammu and Kashmir State’.

Four militants including the IS cheif, Dawood Salfi, were killed during fierce encounter with forces in Srigufawara area of South Kashmir.

In an  brief interview with local news gathering agency Kashmir News Service, DGP claimed that the four militants were involved in several attacks on CRPF and JK police including the attack on CRPF at Lasjan Srinagar, the killing of a cop in Soibug Budgam and several other incidents.

Apart from four militants, the attack also left a Special Operations Groups man and civilian dead while 20 persons sustained injures, two of them critical, during the clashes with forces at the encounter site.
