Civilian killed, three injured in ‘army firing’ in Pulwama

A civilian was killed and three others sustained injuries after army troopers allegedly opened fire on protesters in Nowpora village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

GNS a local news agency reported that army troopers of 55 RR opened fire after the residents resisted their attempts to vandalise the property of a local militant Saju Mir.

During the protests four persons, including a girl, were injured in the army action, they said.

The injured were rushed to district hospital Pulwama where from Viqas Ahmad Rather (24) was referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

“However on his arrival at SMHS hospital at Srinagar he was declared brought dead,” GNS reported.

The injured girl, identified as Ruqaya Jan, and the other injured have also received bullet injuries in their arms.
