Geelani again barred from offering Friday prayers

Will never surrender to pressure but will “pursue our cherished mission" till it is taken to its logical conclusion

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, who continues to be under house detention, was again barred from offering Friday prayers.

While hitting back on the authorities Geelani said “Kashmiri’s will continue with their struggle till freedom is achieved” and added that “instead of facing resistance leaders on political turf, they are being caged against frivolous charges,” spokesperson said in a statement.

“When the ailing leader tried to leave his residence, a large contingent of the government forces stationed outside his residence stopped him,” spokesperson said.

“Even in the month of Ramadhan, he was barred from offering Friday prayers. He continues to be virtually in jail. He was released for a brief period but was rearrested without any justification,” the spokesman said.

“Lashing at state authorities, Geelani said that by placing curbs, denying religious obligations and detaining resistance leaders, will yield nothing,’ spokesperson said adding, “Delhi groomed authorities have unleashed a ‘reign of terror’ against innocent civilians in state”.

He said the “sacrifices of youth won’t go waste” and nobody will be allowed to play with their sacrifices, saying “we will never surrender or succumb to pressure but will “pursue our cherished mission” till it is taken to its logical conclusion.

“Geelani also expressed his satisfaction over the overwhelming response from people for Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Alqudus, saying since past 70 years the Palestine and Kashmir issues were neglected,” spokesperson said.

“Geelani while asking people to stay away from the elections said that the people of Kashmir will pursue their “pious mission” despite all odds,” statement said.

“We demand peaceful resolution of Kashmir and Palestine issues according to the wishes and aspirations of the people,” Geelani said in a statement adding, America and its brainchild Israel with their “military might” and “political influence” are depriving Palestinian people from their birth right.

“While expressing grave concern over the “genocide” of innocent people of Palestine at the hands of Israel’s “fascist” forces, Geelani said that It is against the “sovereignty” of a nation like Palestine, and  against the set principles of UNO”.
