SRINAGAR: Zaffer Akber lone on Monday said that if New Delhi had sincerity in declaring the ceasefire in Ramadan than they would have proved it by releasing the political prisoners during the sacred month of Ramadan.

He added that if they can declare ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, why they can’t release all political prisoners and detainees on humanitarian grounds during holy month of Ramadan.

He also termed continues detention of political leaders as ‘political vendetta’. He said that it has become the habit of authorities to frame fictitious charges against resistance leaders once they are bailed by courts.

Zaffar in a statement urged the world rights bodies to take serious notice of the treatment being done with the “under-trial” prisoners of Kashmir and the “disdain” and “contempt” shown by the authorities by disobeying the orders of the courts.

He added that by disobeying the order of courts they “perpetuate” the “illegal detention” of political prisoners in violation of the International Law on “flimsy” and baseless grounds.

While castigating authorities  for re-arresting Syeda Asiya  Andrabi, Senior  Hurriyat leader and chairman Jammu and Kashmir salvation movement  (JKSM )Zaffar Akber Bhat , in a statement issued  on May 21,

“Instead of releasing her, she was booked again which reflects mere frustration of Authorities, Zaffar also “expresses anguish and deep concern over the continues detention of Masarat Aalam, Dr Qasim faktoo, Ayoub Dar, Ayoub Mir, Manzoor Ayaz ,senior  Party leader Hilal beigh and others.
