Clashes broke out between the youth and government forces in Anantnag town in the south Kashmir district on Friday.
The clashes started when people staged a protest against the “brutality” being carried out on Palestinians. “Soon after the culmination of Friday prayers the youth hurled rocks at the forces deployed in the area,” sources said.
“The forces responded by firing tear gas, triggering further clashes,” he added.
Pertinently the Joint Resistance Leadership, comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had asked people to hold peaceful protests after Friday prayers as a mark of solidarity with the Palestinians.
