University of Kashmir suspended class-work for two days as a precautionary measure, spokesperson said.

“The class work shall remain suspended on May 07, 08,” he said.

Five Hizb militants, including a professor working in the sociology department of the Kashmir University, were killed during a gunfight with militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir today.

The professor Dr. Muhammad Rafi Bhat, was reported missing on Friday afternoon. His disappearance had triggered protests at the varsity yesterday.

Bhat was killed in an encounter with forces’ on Sunday at Shopian.
