Thieves steal 93 quintals of iron rods from Magam, four accused arrested, seven still at large

 

Budgam, Mar 28: Police have arrested four thieves for stealing iron roads worth lakhs while four vehicles used for the crime are still missing and also the seven accomplices of the arrested thieves are at large while police have launched a hunt to nab them.

These arrests were made by police station Magam in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A police spokesperson said that police station Magam received a complaint from Jameel Jamsheed Magray, a resident of Batpora Kanihama wherein he stated that some unknown thieves have stolen iron rods weighing about 93 Quintals lying outside his (Iron and Cement store) namely MS Magray Cement Store at Batpora Kanihama.

The police spokesperson  said that after registering an FIR, the police team during the investigation questioned a suspect who confessed his crime revealing that 11 other associates of him were also involved in the crime.

The main accused Muzzaffar Rafiq Khatana of Peerah Ramban, disclosed they used 4 trucks and a Santro car to lift 93 Quintals of iron rods and sold them to a scrap dealer at Ramban.

Besides the scrap dealer police arrested Sadiq Hussain son of Azeem Bakarwal, Irfan Bokra son of Aziz Bokra both residents of Peerah Ramban, Mughal Bokra son of Rasheed Bokra resident of Samba Jammu.

Seven thieves are still at large while police out of five vehicles have seized a truck (JK14B-1095) so far.

The police spokesperson said that absconding persons who are evading arrest shall be nabbed soon .
