Srinagar, March 3: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar on Friday urged the authorities o release Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on Shab-e-Barat.

Anjuman in a statement said there are strict restrictions on the peaceful activities of Mirwaiz as he is barred from performing his religious responsibilities.

The statement reads despite repeated appeals to the authorities, it looks unlikely that he will be allowed to deliver his sermon at Jama Masjid on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat .

Anjuman urged administration to release him by taking into consideration the religious sentiments and feelings of people.
