COVID Surge: J&K reports one death; 685 fresh cases

Srinagar, Jul 28: Jammu and Kashmir Thursday reported 685 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 4,315 while one death was reported in the UT in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 4,766.

An official said that among 685 new cases, 423 belong to Kashmir division while as 262 to Jammu division.

He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 291,850 including 287,061 recoveries and 2,428 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 170,782 including 166,490 recoveries and 2,338 deaths.

He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,315 including 2,361 from Kashmir division and 1,954 from Jammu division.

With 443 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 453,551 which is 98.04 percent of the total cases.

“Among the fresh 423 cases today, 212 are from Srinagar, 96 from Baramulla, 52 from Budgam, 02 from Pulwama  22 from Kupwara, 10 from Anantnag, 17 from Bandipora, 06 from Ganderbal, 06 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 262 are from Jammu division that include 147 from Jammu district, 21 from Udhampur, 17 from Rajouri, 14 from Doda, 09 from Kuthua , 10 from Samba, 18 from Kishtwar, 13 from Poonch, 12 from Ramban and 01 from Reasi,” said the official.

As per the daily information bulletin 6,696,177 persons in J&K are under observation while 117 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 4,316 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 6,686,712 persons have completed the surveillance period and 266 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,086,674 samples are available.

“Out of 26,086,674 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,624,042 while 462,633 have tested positive, among them 4,316 cases are active, 453,551 have recovered and 4,766 persons have died,” it added.
