Govt constitutes panel to identify areas where official languages can be notified for use in official purposes

Srinagar, May 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday constituted a six-member committee to devise a roadmap for identification of areas where the official languages can be notified for use in official purposes.

According to an order, the Government has constituted a committee for identification of areas where the official languages can be notified for use in official purposes.

The committee is headed by Secretary to the Government, Culture Department while Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture & Languages has been appointed as Member-Secretary, the order reads.

Representative of Finance Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary), representative of Skill Development Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary), representative of Higher Education Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary), representative of School Education Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary), representative of the General Administration Department and any other member as may be co-opted by the committee will be the members of the committee, read the order issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi.

According to the order, the committee will analyze the overall implications of the proposal and also the capacity building requirement for adaptation of the official languages.

The committee has been asked to comment upon the requirement of resources (physical and financial) for establishment of the setup and to analyze the competence of the available resources in view of diverse geographical and linguistic diversities.
