Militant associate arrested in south Kashmir: Police

Srinagar 01 May: Police on Sunday said that forces have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant associate in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession, official sources said.

“On a specific information, Kulgam Police along with 34RR have arrested one Hybrid Militants of proscribed terrorist outfit LeT who was in contact with Pakistan based Militants as well as local terrorists of proscribed outfit LeT and was tasked to execute Terror incidents. The Hybrid Militant was also involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the terrorists which includes transporting of Arms/Ammunition and explosive material of the terrorists in district Kulgam,” police said,

They security forces recovered one star pistol, 51 9mm rounds and two grenades from his possession.

The official identified the militant associate as Yamin Yousuf Bhat (19) son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Gadhama.

The police said a case with FIR No.57/2022 stands registered against the said hybrid militant in Police Station Kulgam under relevant sections of law and further investigation regarding the incident is in progress.
