62 Militants Killed In Kashmir Valley This Year: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, April 28: Sixty two militants including 15 foreigners militants have been killed in Kashmir so far this year and most of them were affiliated with LeT, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said on Thursday.

He said that due to enhanced human intelligence, technical intelligence and focused operations, the surviving rate of militants is drastically decreasing.

“During the current year, 62 militants linked with different outfits have been neutralized in different encounters so far. Out of these 62 killed militants, 32 militants got neutralised within just three months of their joining militant rank,”  he said. “”Among the 62 killed militants, 39 were linked with LeT, 15 with JeM, 06 with HM & 02 with Al-Badr. The killed militants include 47 local militants and 15 foreign militants.”

Meanwhile, as per the data available, 38 encounters were reported to have happened in the ongoing year so far and among them 25 were reported in South Kashmir.

“Pulwama including Awantipora reported nine encounter, Shopian witnessed eight encounters, Srinagar reported seven encounters, Kulgam reported six encounter, Budgam, Anantnag and Kupwara reported two encounters each while as Ganderbal and Baramulla reported one encounter each,” the data adds.

In January, of the 12 encounters, three were reported in Kulgam district while Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Shopian witnessed two encounters besides that one encounter was reported in Kupwara district.

In February, Shopian witnessed three encounters while Srinagar and Pulwama witnessed one encounter each, however, rest seven districts witnessed zero encounters.

In March, Srinagar and Pulwama including Awantipora witnessed three encounters each while Kupwara and Ganderbal witnessed one encounter each, however, rest six districts witnessed zero encounters in Month.

In April so far, Shopian Pulwama and Kulgam reported three encounters each, Anantnag reported two encounters while as Srinagar and Baramulla reported one encounter each.
