Srinagar, Jan 11: Kashmir Valley on Tuesday had confirmation of omicron cases for the first time on Tuesday.
Five of them stand confirmed and include a 9-month pregnant woman from Uri in Baramulla district whose sample returned positive for the Omicron 22 days after it was collected while another is a Shopian resident who returned from Sharjah Dubai on December 16 and completed 8-Days of strict Home Quarantine on December 22. He was shifted to home Isolation from DRDO Srinagar on January 2.
Regarding the woman from Dhanisayden Uri, sources said that she had no travel history and has fully recovered since then.
Her sample was taken on December 20 at SDH Uri for Omicron. Officials said she was already Covid positive patient.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla confirmed that woman’s test returned positive for the Omicron and said that she is stable.
Officials said that a team of doctors has been rushed to the woman’s home and samples of her family members and neighbors will be done.
Three among cases are non-local travelers—two from Maharashtra and one from Gujarat and they have since returned back.
Their samples were received from Mattan Anantnag on 22, 23 and 26th December after they tested positive on RTPCR, they said.
Three cases of Omicron variant were confirmed in Jammu on December 21 and none of them had foreign history and all their close contacts were identified and immediately tested. These samples were also taken on 30th November. gns
