In 1,118 militancy related incidents; 269 govt forces personnel lost their lives in last 3 years in J&K: Govt

Srinagar, Dec 08: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Wednesday informed the parliament that in 1,118 militant-related incidents, a total of 269 security forces personnel have been killed in J&K in the last three years.

The Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Nityanand Rai was replying to the queries raised in the ongoing winter session of parliament.

The minister informed that only two militant-related incidents surfaced in the hinterland of India which include one in 2018 and another in the ensuing year.

The union minister said that a total of 1,118militant-related incidents have surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir during which a total of 269 security forces personnel have lost their lives in the last three years.

Given the year-wise breakup, the union minister informed that in the year 2018 a total of 417 militant-related incidents have surfaced during which 91 security forces personnel have lost their lives.

In the year 2019, the minister informed that a total of 80 security forces personnel lost their lives in 255 militant-related incidents.

The minister informed that 244 militant-related incidents took place in the year 2020 during which 63 security forces were killed.

202 militant-related incidents surfaced in the region in the ensuing year up to November 28, during which 35 militant security forces personnel lost their lives, the minister informed the parliament.

According to the figures shared by the Union Minister in the parliament on Wednesday, the militant related incidents including the number of casualties to security forces personnel is showing a dip in the subsequent years in the region. kno
