Srinagar, Sep 21: The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday said that it carried out searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a case of recovery of an IED in Bathindi area of Jammu on June 27 this year.
An official said that the NIA with the assistance of J&K Police and CRPF conducted searches at 8 locations in Anantnag, Baramulla, Kulgam, Srinagar, Doda and Kishtwar districts of J&K.
He said the case was initially registered as FIR No 0234/2021 dated 27.06.2021 of PS Bahu Fort District Jammu, relating to recovery of 5kgs IED from a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in Bathindi on June 27 this year.
“The conspiracy by LeT was aimed at causing explosion in Jammu using the IED. NIA had re-registered the case as RC-04/2021/NIA/JMU dated 19.07.2021 and had earlier arrested three persons in this case,” he said.
The official said that the investigation revealed that Pakistan based handlers of proscribed LeT outfit and their associates based in J&K were planning militant activities in J&K by using the pseudo-acronym TRF so as to maintain plausible deniability and evade LEAs.
“During the searches conducted today, many digital devices and other incriminating materials were recovered from the premises of the suspects. Further investigation in the case is going on,” he said. kno
