JKPCC Chief detained, barred from entering Kishtwar

Srinagar, Aug 27: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday condemned the government action of not allowing its party president and General Secretary to meet injured youth Congress activists in Kishtwar.

According to a statement,  Mir was detained at Potato Farm near Sinthan Top and Wani was detained at Thathri.

Senior leaders and former legislators of JKPCC have strongly condemned the government action of detaining party President Ghulam Ahmad Mir and General Secretary Abdul Majeed Wani, barring them from entering Kishtwar District, where scores of youth Congress activists were injured in a police lathicharge.

Youth Congress activists were peacefully protesting against the Centre’s wrong policies, but were responded with brute force with the result scores of activists received grievous injuries, the statement said, adding that both the leaders were scheduled to meet the injured to enquire about their health and express their solidarity with them.

Such callous attitude of the government won’t deter the Congress party from raising their voice against the anti-people and wrong policies of the Centre, rather it would further strengthen their resolve to fight against the anti-people policies of the Govt in a peaceful manner, JKPCC said.

JKPCC condemned the state administration for not allowing Congress leaders to meet injured youth workers in Kishtwar and said such a mindset was unacceptable, uncalled for and has no place in a democratic setup as guaranteed by the constitution.

Congress reiterated its resolve to continue to fight against the Centre’s wrong policies.
